"My themes and ideas
in watercolors are
arrived at through the unique qualities of the medium. By utilizing
three visual phenomena, startling and inventive forms can be achieved.
The unpredictability of watercolors is step one. Pour a rich gum Arabic wash onto the paper
freely as in Gestural Abstract Expressionism. Like the Rorschach test, images appear to the
eye. Because of the
gum Arabic, the wash
can be extended or removed permitting endless changes to the shape. Once satisfied, detailing can be added. The result is Gestural Architecture."
